Answers to some common questions

What if I am late (or early)?

As soon as you know that your schedule has changed, phone me to see if I am able to accommodate your new time. Sometimes I will have another tour before or after yours; in this case we may need to adjust the length of your tour

How do I get in contact?

There are email links and a contact form on this site, so it's easy to start a conversation.

Once we have agreed a tour I will send you a confirmation showing the date, time and cost of the tour. This will also have my mobile phone number and bank details

What if I can't make the tour?

This really depends on how much notice you are able to give, but if it's short notice I may ask you to pay a portion of the cost as compensation.

Where do I meet you?

That is entirely up to you, but I am happy to advise.

I could meet you at your accommodation if you are staying in the city. If not then I can suggest a suitable start point for your particular tour, and tell you how to find it, if you need that.

What if I want a special tour?

I often focus on history, but I am able to spend more time on most themes. If the theme is very specialised I might suggest a colleague who is better able to build a particular themed tour.

I am happy to lead an evening tour, in the lighter evenings, but bear in mind that tours are outside in the fresh air, so dress accordingly!

How much does a tour cost?

Pricing detail and ways to pay can be found on the 'Pricing' page

How will I recognise you?

You can see my photo on this site, and I will be at the agreed meeting place in advance of the tour start time. You will also have my mobile phone number, and I will ask for yours.

What if I am not happy?

I want you to be happy; a happy customer makes for a happy guide! It is best to let me know that things aren't going well during your tour. I can adjust the route, pace and delivery as we go along to better meet your needs.

What if I want a tour of the Cathedral?

I am a city guide, qualified through the Institute of Tourist Guiding.

Naturally the Cathedral forms a large part of the Canterbury story, which I will cover in any city tour, but I cannot visit the Cathedral or its precincts while guiding you.

The Cathedral has its own, very knowledgeable guides, who can be booked for a small extra cost in addition to the normal entrance fee.

I have another question

I am happy to respond to any query; just use the contact form or send me an email and I will get back to you.

My email is:

david.jackson@mycanterburyguide.uk or just click the email link to open your own email app with my address preloaded.
